Abstract

The self-cleansing screen may be used on open channels feeding water to hydro-electric plant. It uses motor (8)- driven endless chains (4) to displace transverse combs (10) through the grill. Parallel inclined bars (1) at 15 mm centres constitute the grille which is supported by traverses (2) beneath, and has hooked top ends (1A) which guide combs (10) during the return movements (M). Combs (10) may be provided at close centres over the full height of the screen, and may be attached to chains (4) driven by electric motor (8) with reduction gearing. A horizontal flap comb (11) at the base may allow combs to make the bottom return movement (M1), and the screen may pivot out of the channel to facilitate maintenance.

Description

GRILLE A RATEAUX A CYCLE
CONTINU POUR CANALISATIONS ET
PRISES D'EAU
CYCLE RAKE GRID
CONTINUOUS FOR PIPES AND
WATER INTAKE
In open drains, there is often a need, at the entry of water into the turbines or the tanks which it must supply, to stop the leaves or other detritus which have fallen into the channel or are suspended in the water. 'water. Bour celas we generally use grids that stop everything; but at the end of a certain time: lggit engorged by these piled up detritus and leaves which it is urgent to remove. This cleaning operation is most often done by maintaining using a rake, but takes a long time, is tedious and sometimes dangerous.

L'appareil préconisé débarrasse le cours d'eau des corps in désirables. The recommended device rids unwanted bodies of water.

Figure I gives the idea of the realization; however, it is not drawn to scale because its relative dimensions depend on particular cases. It has been shown schematically and lton sees only one bar appear (1) while there is a bar every 15 millimeters over the entire width of the device; this is to make the drawing easier to read.

The grid part consists of bars (1) spaced between them every 15 millimeters and welded to tubular spacers (2) and fixed to two flanges constituting the whole of the chassis (3).

These flanges include two angles (4) fixed parallel ~ lement which provide support for the bearing of the strands (tensioned and return) of the channe (5).

Quatre pignons dentés (6) entratnent les deux channes. Four toothed pinions (6) drive the two chains.

L'arbre supérieur (7) est entraîné par un moteur électrique (8).The upper shaft (7) is driven by an electric motor (8).

The other tree, submerged, (9) during service, ensures the return0
These flanges take up, at each end, the bearings of the trees.

Under the action of the motor (8) actuating the upper pinions (6), the rakes, the number of which varies according to the height of the device driven by the two chains (5) in the direction indicated by the arrows, scrape the barraux (la grille) (1) entrarnanf up all the detritus. Then, bypassing the curvature of the grid, descend downwards thus dropping their load of trash either on a floor or in a chute (12).

The rakes (10) reach the submerged lower part, bypass the pinions to go up and pass by lifting a valve (ll) composed of small bars to pass on the upper part of the grid and resume its normal cleaning cycle.

Figure II shows the device in section and plots Figure I for the different parts of the top and submerged part showing the valve in motion.

On the drawings provided, the frames and frames, connecting the various parts and now the device, have not been shown because they have no originality.

The overflow valves and overflows, in addition to conventional accessories, have not been shown.

All micro-plants, flour mills, wastewater treatment plants or any other installation are likely to be interested.
