Abstract

The chain conveyor comprises a number of flat rectangular links (5) fitted with one central hinge (7) on one side and two hinges (6) on the other. The movement in the hinges allows the conveyor to operate on curved parallel rails (3, 4). The links are made from ferro-magnetic material and the lower part of the rail is fitted with permanent magnets to hold the link onto the rails. The conveyor is contained between the side plates (1, 2). The frictional resistance between the chain and the rails is reduced by fitting a plastics moulding (12) on each rail.
