Abstract

The orthopaedic device for supporting the head so as to control the force on the top of the spine, consists of a two part neck roll (1, 2) held against the back of the neck. These are supported on a rod frame (3, 4, 5). This frame is T shaped and has a curved horizontal arm (5) mounted across a cruved vertical arm (4). This has a series of holes (5) through it so that it can be attached to a height adjustment device. The roll enables the head to be tilted backwards. The roll can also be attached to a band passing right round the neck.
