Abstract

The strain gauge (10) has two bases (14, 16) by which it is fastened to the piece (12) of the aircraft structure to be tested. Between these two bases (14, 16) is a deformable part (18) which can be deformed due to the relative displacement of the bases (14, 16) when the piece (12) flexes along a longitudinal line joining the two bases (14, 16). The deformable part (18) carries piezo-resistive elements (20, 22) which measure its deformation in the longitudinal direction. These piezo resistive elements (20, 22) provide an electrical signal which represents the deformation of the structure in the longitudinal direction.
