Abstract

The variable-track straddle tractor has a chassis with beams equipped with front steering and rear driving wheels. A sprocket-and-chain transmission from a small engine is also included. The longitudinal chassis members (1,2) are coupled together by telescopic cross-members acting as guides, and are moved together and apart by a double-acting ram (13) acting simultaneously on a parallelogram linkage (14,17,19-23) and on two swing arms (21) arranged in a V-pattern. The guiding cross-members may each comprise a smooth shaft mounted at one end in a housing fixed to one longitudinal member, and sliding at the other in a tube mounted in a bracket fixed to the other member.
