Abstract
A catalyst is regenerated by (a) combustion at 350-550 degrees C and 1-15 kg/cm2 in a gas contg. 0.01-1 vol.% O2, (b) oxyhalogenation, esp. oxychlorination by (i) a gas contg. O2 and (ii) a halogen, a hydrogen halide, an alkyl halide, a thionyl or nitrosyl halide, NH4Cl or NH4F, or a halogenated organic acid, and (c) treatment with a gas contg. O2 and (d) redn. in a current of H2. The catalyst is used in reforming hydrocarbons or in prodn. of very pure aromatic hydrocarbons. The catalyst partic. contains 0.1-2% of is not 1 noble metal of Gp. VIII, and Al2O3 or a chloro- and/or fluoro-Al deriv., opt. with other metals, oxides, sulphides, and/or other derivs. and further modifiers.
