Abstract
The separable coupling is for the arm of a video disc reproducer. A first coupling element (54) on the end of the arm (51) is of magnetisable material. A second coupling element in the form of a support (64) located on the support (34) is likewise of magnetisable material and has walls enclosing a chamber (70) containing a permanent magnet (71) arranged centrally so that an annular gap is formed. The first coupling element can be brought into proximity with the face containing this annular gap leaving a gap between them which is greater than the gap between the permanent magnet and the walls of the chamber, so as to ensure the flux between the magnet and the walls is greater than between the magnet and the coupling plate. This ensures a true transfer of periodic movements.
