Abstract

The sound-insulating barrier, which is placed alongside a motorway etc, to reduce the effects of the traffic noise, uses spaced vertical posts (2), which are linked together at the top by a horizontal rail (3), so as to define a rectangular frame. An upright (4a) is fixed to the sides of each post (2) and further uprights (4) are positioned at spaced points between the posts (2), the uprights (4, 4a) each formed by a profile with an I shaped cross-section. The uprights (4, 4a) define pairs of vertical guide rails between which sound-insulating elements are slid, one on top of the other, so as to fill in the frame defined by the posts (2) and the horizontal rail (3). A frame element (9) holds the top and bottom sound-insulating elements in each stack.
