Abstract

The stacking/unstacking unit is mobile and one is placed each end of the process line. Panels (8) are in a pile on a platform (7) behind vertical columns (13). This rises in increments equal to the panel thickness and grips (9) push each top panel horizontally onto vertically descending arms (11, 12). Several sets of arms are fitted onto an endless chain and the panels are deposited in sequence onto a table (5) for moving onto the processing line (1). At the discharge end, a similar unit picks up each panel and transfers it vertically onto a stack being formed behind it, the machine cycle being reversible.
