Abstract

The tube fitting (2) comprises a reduced portion (3) between two end rings (4, 5): these rings may be threaded or plain. The central portion has axial slots (8) around it and, internally, O rings (6a, 6b) which seat on the tube outer diameter. A plug (9) is placed inside the tube bore. This plug also has a reduced central diameter forming an annular ring (10) and fitted with seals (11a, 11b) against the bore. The end (14) of the plug is screwed for an hydraulic coupling and has passageways (12, 13) into the annular ring. Hydraulic pressure deforms the tube wall against the fitting and the operation can be carried out underwater.
