Abstract

The pot (20) is made from earthenware or plastic and is in two parts. The upper part (21) has a deep bowl which is used to contain the soil (22) or growing medium and also the plants. The bottom of the bowl narrows down to a neck (25) containing an absorbent material. The absorbent material conveys water from the lower part, this being a shallow bowl or dish (23) with a central location boss (26, 27) for the neck. Connection is made by means of mating tapers. The water (24) passes through a hole (28) in the side of the boss, up through the central stem or neck to the plants.
