Abstract
The gear box (1) has a hollow output shaft (2) with an internally toothed half coupling (4) mounted on the end of the shaft remote from thedriven machine(14). The transmission shaft (3) runs inside the hollow shaft (2) and has a toothed half coupling (8) at one end to suit the half coupling (4). The other end of the shaft (3)has a toothed half coupling (5) which mates with internally toothed half coupling (12) attached to the shaft (13) of the driven machine (14). This arrangement of the transmission resulting in a relatively long drive shaft (3) can accommodate large changes in both axial and lateral position of the driven machine relative to the gear box.
