Abstract
The solar energy absorber has an absorbent cell mounted in a tank below transparent glass. The depth of the intervening space between glass and cell can be between 20 and 40 millimetres, preferably between 28 and 32 millimetres. The intervening space between glass (3) and solar cell (6) is divided by vertical walls (14) perpendicular to the glass. The walls form a series of adjacent honeycomb compartments. The walls can be of metal with a reflecting surface, or of transparent or translucent material. They can be supported by a frame fixed to the tank walls, which also supports the glass. The cell is free to expand.
