Abstract

Construction panels are made by (a) loading a hollow mould with one or more surface linings and one or more prefabricated core slabs of expanded material; and then (b) filling the core/surface gaps with polyurethane foam injected in situ. Method is for mfr. of light wt. thermally insulating and/or fire resistant panels with cores made substantially of standardised prefabricated core slabs. Use of a combination of pre-cast and in situ generated core foams simplifies incorporation of surface linings of differing thickness. Also suitable for mfr. of panels of differing overall thickness.
