Abstract
The process is for the production of an item composed of supporting and cladding layers, such as footwear, clothing etc., with a lining and an external layer. The supporting layer is first made to the desired shape, after which it is coated by a powdering process to form the external layer. The supporting layer can be fixed to a former, and the powder can be applied electrostatically by passing it through a curtain of powder and applying a charge causing the particles to settle on it, or by means of fluidised bed. Several different layers of the same or different powders can be applied in succession.
