Abstract

The valve has a rotary sleeve containing an axially movable plunger (30) whose tapered end (34) contains an axial passage (42) leading to radial outlets (40) opening between a pair of O-rings (36, 38). The plunger has a radially projecting pin (66) extending through a spiral groove in the sleeve so that rotation of the sleeves causes axial movement of the plunger. The tapered end of the plunger controls flow between a passage (18) and a lower passage and by adjusting the plunger so that the O-ring nearer the end of the plunger engages the inner surface of the passage a low flow rate can be produced, with gas flowing through the axial passage (42) and the radial outlets (40).
