Abstract

La présente invention concerne un procédé pour produire des catalyseurs ayant une grande activité catalytique dans la polymérisation d'oléfines et permettant d'obtenir des polyoléfine' de grande stéréorégularité et de densité volumique élevée. L'invention propose également un procédé de polymérisation qui utilise le catalyseur selon l'invention. Le catalyseur (triculorure de titane solide) est obtenu par réduction de tétrachlorure de titane avec un composé organoaluminique en présence d'un éther; lorsque la réduction est pratiquement terminée, on ajoute de l'iode au mélange réactionnel. Après traitement avec le mélange d'iode et d'éther (entre environ 30 et environ 150 degrés C), on précipite le trichlorure de titane solide et on le sépare. La présence d'iode permet d'obtenir des améliorations au point de vue activité catalytique, stéréorégularité et densité volumique des polyoléfines obtenues avec ce catalyseur.
