Abstract

The joint has a hollow cylindrical body with a flange and is placed in the iliac bone of a patient. The body encloses a socket in which the end of a pivot, solid with the patient's femur, is fixed. The body is screw threaded to cut its way into the iliac bone when the joint is turned. The threads are interrupted by semi circular gaps so as to form separated teeth. The flange has two threaded holes and two plain holes, the latter being inclined to the axis of the joint. The teeth are chamfered at(8a).
