Abstract

The combined aggregate and water heater is for concrete making plants in cold weather i.e. when ambient temp. are below 0 deg.C. The heat is generated by a combustion chamber (6), and the exhaust gases are passed through an aggregate. The water is circulated through heat exchanger panels incorporated in the walls. The arrangement avoids the moisture content control problems of steam heating. The chamber (6) may have a burner (7) with a combustible feed (17) and an exhaust pipe (9). The pipe (9) may lead to the interior of an aggregate hopper of a batching plant, and may incorporate heat exchanger panels. The chamber may be double walled and water is circulated by a pump (14). The burner may be of the gas type and may be mounted with the pump on a common load bearing sub-structure.
