Abstract

The off-shore oil drilling rig is of the jacking-up type and may include screw-jacks to enable movement of the piles relative to the platform. The rig includes securing arrangements for locking and unlocking, the platform with the piles. These securing arrangements fit in the gap between the platform and piles. The securing arrangements pref. include automatically adjustable wedges which have two contact surfaces. Two thin orientable plates may be positioned between the adjustable wedge, which is positioned nearest the pile, and a fixed wedge which is attached to the platform structure.
