Abstract

The independent rear wheel suspension for motor vehicles has a carrier arm (2) linked between the chassis (5) and hinge pins (1) of the vehicle. Stops (18) limit the free movement of the arm. A suspension device and shock absorber (10:with pressurised liquid has a piston rod linked to a swinging arm (6), part of the carrier arm (2) and a bracket (11) mounted on the chassis. Motion is limited by abutting elastic units (15, 16), one mounted on the piston the other on a further bracket (12, 13) mounted on the chassis. This further bracket has an oblong passage for the rod (8) with integral blocks on either side. These act as stops for the plate (16). A bellows seal (17) protects the hydraulic unit.
