Abstract

The fishing bait release device has a tube (1) hermetically sealed near one end by a cork to which a coil of wire or nylon is attached. The tube is placed over a boss in the bottom of a pot, hermetically sealing the lower end of the tube. A boss on a pot cover centres the tube in the pot. The pot is filled with bait and water and is frozen solid. In use the cover and pot are removed and the wire is connected to a ballast (17) using a paper clip (12). One end of clip (12) is inserted in a piece of macaroni (13). The macaroni softens in the water so that when the bait has dispersed the buoyancy of the cork causes the clip to free itself for recovery and re-use of the tube and wire.
