Abstract

The switching control or console is for an operator monitoring and control of the running of a communications system, as in a telephone exchange. The centre provides the operator with a telephone line and a visual display using an electroluminescent diode powered numeric or alpha-numeric read-out, also a keyboard to direct or redirect calls. The centre is designed to allow peripheral units, stores and modules, to be placed remotely from the operator. The keyboard operation is displayed to show the callers identification and the required number. An LSI microprocessor, synchronised from a clock source, is coupled into a ROM or RAM carrying out the operators instructions.
