Abstract
In an appts. for sepg. a lighter component suspended in or emulsified with a liquid phase, comprising a series of parallel sheets or guide plates inclined with respect to the horizontal plane and installed in a separating vessel, inlet means for the emulsion or suspension to the separating spaced formed between the guide plates and outlet means at the upper ends of these spaces for the liquid phase and lighter component, (a) compartments open to the separating spaces are provided for collecting the component and liquid phases respectively, at the upper ends and along the whole length of the guide plates, the compartments separating the flow of the phases in each separating space (b) discharge means connected to collecting devices are provided in the compartments for maintaining a pre-determined level of the phases collected in the compartments and delivered via the discharge means to the collecting dev ices. Provides a simple device for separating a lighter component from a liquid e.g. oil from an emulsion in water.
