Abstract

The powdery fuel burner has an annular injection passage for the solid fuel in powder form, between two coaxial inner and outer air injection passages. The three passages (7, 8, 9) discharge into an expansion and stabilisation chamber (34), having a truncated-cone divergent portion joining onto the external air passage, a cylindrical central portion, and a convergent end portion, also of truncated-cone section (36). The end (25) of the fuel injection passage can be convergent, and the divergent ends of the air passages can have vanes in them of opposite pitch, while the fuel passage has none at all. Thus the fuel is injected between two contra-rotating vortices.
