Abstract
Hydrocarbon conversion catalysts comprise (a) an Al2O3 support, (b) 0.5-30 wt.% of one or more Group VIII metals and (c) 0.01-5 (pref. 0.1-2) wt.% of Si in combined form. The catalysts are esp. useful for hydrodesulphurising and hydrocracking atmospheric and vacuum gas oils and fuel oils. The Al2O3 pref. has a specific surface of >15 m.2/g., and a pore vol. of >0.1 cm.3/g. The catalysts pref. contain 1-20 (esp. 5-15) wt.% Group VIA metal (esp. Mo and/or W) and 0.5-8 (esp. 1-5) wt.% Group VIII metal (esp. Ni and/or Co).
