Abstract

Ceramic plates are provided with a coloured pattern by screen printing through a mask onto the surface of the plate, a dry, coloured powder which is distributed and spread over the surface of the mask. Used esp. for floor and wall tiles or plates. The screen printing may be effected before pressing or compaction to final shape. After pressing and before firing, or after firing as desired. This versality is novel. The powder is spread by one or two movable brush'es) having hairs 5-10 mm long. When two brushes are used, one is moved behind the other, by means of a pneumatic or hydraulic mechanism. A powder distributing devie is a displaceable measuring device which distributes the correct amt. of powder onto the screen. The brushes and the distributor pref. form part of a single mechanism.
