Abstract

A device compresses the limb and allows its subsequent slow decompression. Two electrodes are applied to the limb in the compressed area, and variations in impedance between them, when a HF a.c. is applied, are detected by an electronic unit. Means are included for measuring the instantaneous pressure applied to the limb. The display device can be set to indicate when notable variations occur, and when the amplitude of the variations is equal to a predetermined fraction of their maximum amplitude when the limb is subjected to pressures decreasing from a point where blood flow is prevented.
