Abstract

Torque indicating socket spanner heads, of synthetic material, embody sockets contoured to slip on the bolt head once the specified torque is attained. A cylinder is axially socketed at each end to receive a hand lever and fit over nut, an axially perpendicular cross section of this latter end revealing a basically hexagonal cut out with flats specially contoured: sections in the direction of tightening being successively flat (a), concave (c) and convex (b) and 0.3, 0.3 and 0.4 of the flat length respectively. This section deforms elastically at a specified torque causing the spanner to slip on the nut. Lever sockets are convex sided squares.
