Abstract

Measurement of speed of rotation or angular position is affected by using teeth which pass in the vicinity of a permanent magnet to induce a voltage in a coil. The body of a transducer (100) is stamped out in one piece from a ferromagnetic material, the base plate (102) having two mounting holes (104, 106). The body contains two cavities (109, 111) separated by a plate (110) with an opening (112). The upper cavity (109) contains the electromagnetic elements comprising a cylindrical permanent magnet (118) of high residual induction and high magnetic flux and also a coil (122). The ferromagnetic core has a base (130) with a tooth which locates in the plate opening (112). The base rests on the plate (110). The elements are impregnated with acrylic resin (142).
