Abstract

The roller can be used to stretch or press together knitted or woven fabrics, plastics film, paper, metal foil, tubing, etc. and can also be used to establish curves in weft of woven or natural and knitted goods, and comprises a stationary shaft that is curved along its length and has bearings positioned on it. A tubular component made of reinforced resin, e.g. epoxy or polyester resin reinforced with glass fibres, surrounds the shaft and bearings and is designed to be bent around the supporting bearings so as to curve along its length within fatigue failure limits. This curvature is maintained during rotation.
