Abstract
The tube has a smooth outer surface to receive the fins which are applied to the completed tube. The fins are prefabricated in the form of a continuous ribbon having a base and a stand-up portion of any shape. The base has the same thickness as the fin portion. A number of various cross sections are available for the fins. The fin band is rolled over the surface of the tube in a helix in such a way as to cover the tube entirely. The fin band is applied hot fixed permanently to the tube. The tube may be used horizontally or vertically.
