Abstract

The opaque coloured panel comprises a glass sheet bonded to a protective sheet and is designed to obviate shattering due to temperature differential and impact, and utilizes a fibrous protective sheet impregnated with adhesive and bonded to a major plane of the glass sheet. The adhesive is a coloured thermoplastic organic vitreous enamel, and the fibrous sheet is of elongated entangled glass fibres. The panel can constitute two glazed sheets each having one major face coated with vitreous enamel, the panels then being arranged with coated faces opposed to sandwich the fibrous layer. Alternatively a layer of enamel can be applied to one surface of a single pane, to be followed by the imposition of impregnated fibre which is finally surface sealed by a further application of enamel.
