Abstract

An electrical transducer (10) produces electrical pulses at a repetition frequency proportional to the speed of a vehicle on which the indicator is mounted and a frequency measurement device determines the rate of emission of these pulses. The frequency measurement device comprises a gate (14) which receives the pulses from the transducer, or pulses produced at a frequency which is proportional to the transducer pulse emission frequency, and a gate control circuit (16) which keeps the gate (14) open during successive and consecutive time intervals and closes it at the end of each interval. A counter (26) receives the pulses from the gate and counts the number passing during each time interval.
