Abstract

The torque limiting ratchet screw-driver drives screws at right angles to the handle (1) and shaft (2) and is intended for use on the telephone relay installations or other instances where screw heads are directly inaccessible. The screw head slot engaging bit is formed on a toothed wheel of a sprung pawl mechanism actuated by an oscillation of the handle. The handle forms separate housings for the wheel, two diametrically opposed pawls, and two springs acting on the pawls, and the wheel is connected to an externally accessible orientation wheel which serves to set the bit in the desired station.
