Abstract

A carousel turnable around a vertical axis is fitted at the outlet of a box supply conveyor with a opposing pairs of plates distributed over the rotating axis of the carousel with the lower plate of each pair fitted to the upper end of vertical rods mounted adjustable within the carousel with the upper plates guided within bearings attached to the carousel and pressed by spring devices against the lower plates. Devices rotate the rods around their vertical axis and curves to axially control the rod movement from a lowered position within the area of the transfer position of the boxes to a raised position where the boxes are held between the lower and upper plates (66). A drum section (56) with suction holes on the cylindrical surface holds an adhesive band laid around the box and rotated around a vertical axis at a circumferential speed equal to that of the box.
