Abstract
Hot refrigeration gas passes via a discharge passage from a compressor to a condenser, while a liquid passage runs from the condenser to the evaporator and has a compensating receiver connected to it. A return passage leads the vapourised gas from the evaporator to the compressor and the condenser is exposed to the ambient temperature. A pressure-sensitive valve in the liquid passage between the condenser and the union to the receiver keeps the condenser at least partly saturated at all times during normal temperatures. Means are included for maintaining the gas liquid in the receiver and the liquid passage, and at a pressure substantially constant and lower than the discharge pressure of the gas from compressor to condenser in the discharge passage.
