Abstract
The pump has a cylindrical casing (2) closed at the ends by end plates. A circular rotor (12) revolves inside the casing. The rotor has a transverse diametral slot (14) which contains a vane (20) sliding in and out of the slot, projecting at both ends and making line contact at its ends (20', 20") with the inside of the casing. The casing has inlet and discharge connections (24, 22) and the vane forces fluid from one to the other. The inside surface (8) of the cylindrical casing (2) has a cross section in the shape of a Pascal's Curve. The shape of this curve ensures that the vane is kept in contact with the surface at all times and eliminates the need for any pressure devices to maintain contact.
