Abstract

The tubes to be joined are bevelled at their ends to form a mitred joint. The angle member (1) has a recess (4) cut in each arm with a recess (7) near the vertex and a sloping end wall (5). A slot (9) is cut transversely through the vertex. A wedge-shaped member, provided with a grub screw, fits in each recess (4). Each arm of the angle member (1) is fitted into the end of a tube which has a small transverse hole to provide access to the grub screw. The grub screw is tightened to deflect the ends (8) of the angle member (1) against the inner wall of the tubes.
