Abstract

A carpet is dyed by passage through a dye bath in treatment chamber, the dye bath being pumped through a recycling circuit including a heat exchanger to the top of the treatment chamber. The dye is reintroduced into the treatment chamber via an overflow device to trap waste fibres and prevent them from being re-introduced into the dye bath and the inlet and outlets of the heat exchanger are also constructed so as to trap waste fibres. The amount of cleaning of the dyeing appts. is reduced, and the efficiency of the heat exchangers is not impaired by waste fibre deposits.
