Abstract

The bolt (1) or threaded spindle is screwed (12) into a hexagonally sectioned sleeve (4), the nose of which incorporates a thrust block (7), this latter being free to rotate w.r.t. the sleeve by a ball bearing (6) and permitting free passage of the spindle. Engagement of the rivet (2) on the spindle is followed by rotationally tightening the thrust block (7) onto the work surface. The spindle is held locked by lever (3) and the sleeve raised by lever (5). This raises the lower part of the rivet and causes a radially outward deformation of the thin walled section of the rivet.
