Abstract

an injection head is provided with multiple reagent inlets accepting preset proportions of reactive resin precursors from individual recirculating supply systems and blending the flows in a mixing chamber contg. a turbine agitator, where the head is fitted with an outlet nozzle incorporating a coaxial chamber lined with a tubular sleeve of elastomeric material. A side inlet allows the chamber to be temporarily pressurised to flatten the internal sleeve and (completely) throttle the flow from the mixing chamber to the outlet orifice. Esp. for injection heads, which blend sufficient material to load a multi-cavity tool with a series of individual shots by relative movement of the nozzle and the individual cavities, so that the tool may be fully loaded without intermediate purging or rinsing of the mixing chamber. The sleeve valve inhibits drooling between moulding cycles or as the nozzle traverse w.r.t. individual tool cavities within a multiple shot filling cycle, thus avoiding contamination of the tool face or of the material contained within the mixing head upstream from the nozzle.
