Abstract

A device to stimulate the muscles by applying pulses through electrodes placed on the skin is designed to enable the user to control the duration of the pulse trains as well as the amplitude. A clocking device (2) supplies square wave pulses to a frequency divider (3) which feeds two frequencies (B, C) to a bistable oscillator (5) from which is obtained a rectangular pulse (D) at short duration proportional to C and spaced by a time double that of B. By means of contactors (7, 8) for the signals B & C, the duration and spacking of the pulses applies to the skin can be controlled. Part of the output of the divider (3) is fed as a signal E to a three stage frequency divider (9a, 9b, 9c) and a further oscillator (16) in an arrangement with a further contactor (14) by means of which the ratio between the pulse trains and their intervals can be changeD.
