Abstract

The photoelectric monitor is esp. for surveillance of yarn containers in textile machinery and indicates a need for replacement. To prevent false triggering of a control/alarm circuit by the monitor due to mains voltage variations, the detector consists of a pair of P-E cells connected to the inputs of a differential amplifier whose output controls the trigger circuit allowing the reservoir capacitor to discharge into the load, e.g. electromagnetic relay. One cell is illuminated by reflected light from the target and the second by a bleed from the initial source of illumination for the target.
