Abstract

Dust or spray is removed from gas drawn in through apertures in the wall of a vertical rotor drum, the openings being directed away from the direction of motion. Pref. the drum is inside a cyclone, at the top of which is a fan to draw air through from a tangential inlet, so that its circulation is opposite sense to that of the drum. Helical vanes may be fitted to cyclone wall to divert flow downwards and product or contaminant may be collected from bottom of cyclone, e.g. via a rotary valve.
