Abstract

A foot protector for cyclists, to be mounted on the pedal, comprises a shell to receive the toe of the shoe; the bottom of the shell has a step down, corresp. to the depth of the pedal, the face of this step comprising holes, which are aligned with holes in the pedal for the attachment of the foot-holders. Pref. the bottom of the shell continues horizontally from the base of the step, for a distance equal to the width of the pedal, so that it fits up to the underside of the pedal; the sides of this flat portion are turned up and join the sides of the shell. The protector may be of castable plastics, esp. polycarbonates, polyamides, methacrylates or polystyrene, opt. of double-skin construction with polyurethane foam between.
