Abstract
A mixer where fluids are drawn in and discharged by reciprocation of a pair of pistons moving in opposing directions on the opposite faces of a mixing chamber with peripheral inlet and outlet passages. The swept volume of each piston is limited by adjustable stops. Pref. the central unswept zone of the dispenser incorporates a chicane fitting to promote mixing of the constituents, and the pistons have deep heads with a clearance gap from the chamber wall which is large compared with any solids in the mixture being dispensed. The piston is sealed by an independent flexible membrane clamped between the piston chamber liners and the heads of each piston, and the piston chamber has a temperature controlled jacket and rinsing fluid inlets. Appts. is suitable for mixing and dispensing curable resins such as epoxy, polurethane or polyester resins together with fillers, e.g. sand or silica, and other additives.
