Abstract

Method for reduction of NOx emissions from a soda pan, as well as a soda pan. In the method additional fuel, like soap, odorous gases, methanol, etc. originating from a pulp production process is fed to the soda pan from the top of the liquor introduction point so that the combustion conditions in the soda pan remain substoichiometric and the temperature is as unfavorable as possible for formation of NOx. After supply of the additional fuel, excess air is fed to the soda pan to produce final combustion. The soda pan has additional fuel nozzles 6 above the liquor nozzles 5 via which the additional fuel is fed to the soda pan's furnace, as well as above the ventilation channels 7a, 7b. <IMAGE>
