Abstract

To transmit, from a transmitter to a receiver, signals triggered by prolonged depression of a button, the invention calls for repeat signals (R) to be transmitted while the button is kept depressed. Releasing the button triggers a separate switch signal (S). A burst/pause modulation technique is used to transmit the repeat and switch signals (R and S), the information units being defined by different burst-separation lengths. The burst separations and burst packets are chosen such that IR transmitters with only limited power supplies can be used.
