Abstract

A siphon head 304 is configured in order to fit onto the neck 350 of a bottle 352 in a sealed relationship. On the outer surface 360 of the body 362 is mounted a lever 340 by means of breakage filaments and a spring sheet. During use, the user pulls the lever 340 up in order to break the filaments. The strip 230 causes one end of the lever 340 to pivot across the opening 342 of the body 362 and across the actuator shaft 348. The actuator shaft 348 is joined to the inner surface of the body 362 by means of an elastic diaphragm (membrane). The raised part 324 on the elastic sealing member 318 seals an opening in the siphon tube 310 until the force exerted on the handle 340 causes the rod 348 to move in order to allow dispensing of seltzer (water) 356. It is possible to manufacture the head 304 in a single injection-moulding operation. The head 304 is joined detachably to the bottle 352. The bottle 352 is transported with a cap over the neck 350. The user removes the cap and connects the head 304 for dispensing the seltzer 356. It is possible to re-use the head 304 with other bottles 352.
